Fall Hike in the Aspen
Adventures in aspen trees
Every fall we love to hike when the aspen change color. Colorado has beautiful scenery all year, but golden aspen leaves are ethereal, and remind us to take advantage of the remaining nice weather before winter sets in. This year we took K to a very popular hiking area at Kenosha Pass. This trail head gives access to a section of the Colorado trail that meanders through aspen groves and has sweeping views of the eastern Rockies.
This particular Saturday morning was busy! Of course we left later than anticipated, but we got to the trail head at about 9:00 to find a full parking lot. Just as luck would have it, we pulled in and a woman ran to the car to ask if we had jumper cables. Chris having stocked my car with many emergency supplies, we did. Once we jumped her car we were able to take their prime parking spot.
With a thermos of coffee, hot chocolate, and a few peanut butter sandwiches we set off.
After a few miles, we stopped and picnicked. It was really windy, so our warm coffee was a needed pick me up!
